Class 1’s Week

Our first week in December has included:

  • Scottish dancing
  • Show and tell
  • Making clay diya lamps
  • Big Writing
  • Basic Facts games and number problem solving
  • Spelling pairs
  • Letter and number formation
  • Our final tennis session
  • Shape activities
  • Learning about the Up Helly Aa Festival
  • Decorating our class Christmas tree
  • Creating artwork to show our topic knowledge

I’ve been so impressed by everyone’s continued enthusiasm and readiness to engage in our learning activities. Keep it up- only a fortnight to go!

Wishing all families a super weekend 😊

Xmas Lunch Numbers

Please remember that if you wish your child to have Christmas lunch on Friday 13th we require the tear off slip as soon as possible to notify the kitchen.

If you have lost the slip a simple note with payment (P4-P7 only) will be perfect.

Please remember there will be NO other lunch option on this day. So children will require a packed lunch.

P5 Academy 9 Trip

The P5 girls had a great morning at Grantown Grammar for the Academy 9 event today. They all learned a lot about the A9 dualling project and safety aspects, such as what clothes are required to work on site.

The girls had to work with other children from other schools to complete a range of team challenges. They were delighted that their team, Team Yellow, came first place.

Great work P5 and thanks to Mrs Paul for attending the event with the girls.

Daviot Church – Christmas Carols

Daviot Primary pupils, along with Farr Primary, are invited to join the congregation at Daviot Church on Monday 16th December (time to be confirmed).   During the service, the pupils will sing four well-known Christmas songs.

Last year it was a lovely evening and it would be lovely to see as many of our families there as possible.

We will be practising our songs in class between now and then. The children will also come home with the words this week.

Paired Reading

Whilst it was chilly outside this afternoon, we were all tucked up in Class 1 with a good book.

Class 2 love supporting the younger children by reading the books to them, talking about the pictures and sharing their ideas.  Class 1 also enjoy having the opportunity to read some of the books to their Class 2 buddy.

It was a lovely way to end a very cold Friday!
