School Uniform

We hope everyone had a super weekend and are ready for another busy week at school.

We have noticed over the last few weeks a decline in children wearing school uniform to school. We would encourage all children to come to school dressed in school uniform. This can be grey/black trousers or leggings ( not jeans), shorts or skirts and the Daviot  jumper/ hoodie or similar coloured cardigan.

If you have any further questions about school uniform please contact the school office.

P1 Enrolment

Enrolment for entry to Primary 1 in August 2020 will take place during the week beginning Monday 27th January.  Please let any friends know who you think are considering enrolling their child with us for Primary 1.

The easiest way to do this is to enrol online. You can access the necessary guidance information and complete the enrolment process online for Primary 1 on the Council’s website –

Please note the online application process for P1 pupils will go live on Monday 27 January and will not be available before that date. You will still have the option to enrol your child in person at the school.

If your child’s birthday falls between 18 August 2020 and the end of February 2021 (e.g. still 4 years old on the school start date in August 2020) you are entitled to defer entry to primary school. If you believe your child is not ready for school you should discuss this in the first instance with staff at your child’s nursery/ELC setting.
The final decision to defer entry lies with parents. This additional year will be fully funded by the Highland Council.

Please contact the school office if you have any questions regarding enrolment.

Baillie Cup Entry Deadline

Forms were due back today from P1-4 pupils to indicate your child’s interest in participating in this athletics event in June.

Please check that your child has handed in their form and that it isn’t still lurking in the bottom of a school bag!

We’ve had very few returns so if there are no further forms returned tomorrow unfortunately we will have no choice but to pull Daviot Primary out  of this popular school’s event for this year.

Class 1 Homework

Class 1 have brought their homework folders home today. For some pupils, this also means a new TT Rockstars login and activity which will be noted in their diary. Once they have logged into their account, children should play the Garage section to practise their focus times table facts.

The aim is for children to rehearse little and often, as well as completely independently. Practise time will be regularly provided during the school week too. If there are any difficulties, please contact us.

Many thanks,

Miss Costa

Blog Updates

As you may be aware, our current subscription for this blog is coming to an end at the end of this month.  Therefore, the decision has been taken to relaunch the old blog set up in 2018.

Today, I have spent the morning transferring over all the recent pictures and posts for this academic year (Aug 2019 onward).

We will continue to post on both blogs UNTIL the subscriptions ends.  Please make sure you subscribe to the new blog before this happens.  Sorry to any of our older parents who have been getting emails all day whilst I have been transferring the data, but at least you know you are still subscribed!

Our new blog can be found at –

Weather Conditions Today (10.30am)

At present the weather at Daviot Primary is clear and fine.  We will continue to monitor the weather throughout the day.  The weather forecast shows that the snow showers are supposed to clear around lunchtime/early afternoon.

If you feel the weather is getting worse or road conditions are deteriorating in your area please feel free to collect your child/ren from school at any point.

I have cancelled the P7 transition visit today due to road conditions this morning.

Class 1 New Topic

Today we found out that our topic this term will be ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’… all about our body! This afternoon, we got to work on the Padlet app and recorded some facts that we already know as well as questions that we’d like answered.

More information about this topic will be shared within the following weeks, but as always do get in touch if needed.

Thank you,

Miss Costa
