Week 3 Recap – Class 1

What an active 5 days it’s been for Class 1!

We started off the week by practising our gymnastics with Miss Purvis, then on Wednesday we met Mike, who led us in our first tennis session. The afternoon was really good fun and we worked hard on our ball control skills. Yesterday we rehearsed our Bollywood dance moves and then joined Class 2 for some team games in the hall.

In literacy we’ve been focusing on generating ‘wow’ words which will enrich our stories and help us create exciting descriptions. P1s have been introduced to a new app called ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’. We’re looking forward to playing this again and strengthening our phonic knowledge at the same time.

During our recent numeracy lessons, we’ve been challenging ourselves by working out place value problems and recalling our Basic Facts with increasing speed.

Mrs Reid came to teach us on Thursday and told us about a Scottish festival called The Mòd. We loved learning about this festival and even designed our own Highland dancers. Mrs Reid has also started exploring shapes with us during maths.

It was Anti Bullying Week too. Class 1 talked about building positive relationships and worked in pairs to create posters on friendship. We will be sharing these on our blog soon.

Finally, we participated in Children in Need and did a great job of showing our support and joining in with fundraising  events.

On Monday we will start off with our usual P.E session and will be engaging in different activities for Book Week Scotland. We look forward to another week of fun!
