Five Star Gold Award and Assembly News

Yesterday we had a whole school assembly to talk about the importance of being a good friend and the qualities we look for when building friendships with others.

We were therefore delighted to give Shiloh and Daisy their Five Star Gold Awards for their kindness, politeness and consideration of the other children and adults at school. Well done girls, you are superb role models!

Mrs Beattie also shared the fantastic total of money raised at both the Vintage Rally and the Daviot Quiz night, which altogether was over £800! Well done and thank you so much to all who were involved in the organisation and running of each event, as well as all those who participated and contributed. A special thank you has to go out to Ali who organised the brilliant quiz. It was so nice to see current and former members of Daviot Primary in attendance too (thank you Steve for being a great Quiz Master!).

In summary, lots to celebrate and be proud of this week. Well done Team Daviot 🙂

Class 1 – Childhood Long Ago Session

Photos from our fantastic topic-filled Wednesday.

Class 1 loved their ‘Childhood Long Ago’ workshop with Morven from the Highland Museum of Childhood. We shared details about some of our favourite toys from home, investigated a selection of older toys, compared their materials and how they worked, learnt how to play with them, made a teddy bear timeline and discussed what children and people might’ve worn in the Highlands a hundred years ago.

After lunch, we continued our topic tasks by learning and performing two songs: ‘Aunty Mary’ and ‘Ye Canna Shove Yer Granny Aff a Bus’. Finally, we ended the day with ‘Grandma’s Footsteps’ and a friendly game of marbles.

Fantastic to see the excitement from the children and their enthusiastic engagement throughout. A really wonderful Wednesday 🙂
