Class 2 – Information for Parents

Well done to everyone in Class 2 for working so hard this week. I can’t quite believe 2 weeks have passed already.  The new P5 children have settled in well and the P7s are enjoying their privileges and responsibilities.

As we enter into our third week, I would just like to clarify a few details for all parents and carers:

MondaysP.E with Miss Purves , our specialist teacher from Millburn. As we have our session from 09.00 – 10.00 am, children should come to school in their kit (change of t-shirt, shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms, socks and trainers) but need to have their uniform to change into afterwards.

Homework – Homework will be issued on a Monday, to be returned the following Monday unless stated differently. Class 2 are responsible for copying down their homework tasks in their diary.  The diary should be signed by parents to acknowledge the task has been completed. There is also space for any parental comments.

All children will be given tasks suited to their age and developmental stage.

Wednesdays (from 10am) and Thursdays – Mrs Murchie/Mrs Ward will be teaching the children whilst I have management time. Mrs Ward is in temporarily until Mrs Murchie returns.

Wednesday- P.E with Mrs Murchie/Mrs Ward. Kits may stay in school if preferred, but if taken home must be brought back in time for Monday’s morning session.

Reading books generally do not go home from P5 however, this year on occasion your child may receive reading homework. This may be a reading book or a reading related task to complete. All information will be given in the homework diary.

General reminders – I would also like to remind all pupils to have appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear for rainy days and also for messier play, such as in our digging area or our mud kitchen.

Water bottles/ Indoor shoes- All children require a pair of indoor shoes for the classroom as well as a water bottle.

I hope I have covered everything.  If you have any questions or need to get in contact, please email – arlene.beattie2@highland.gov.uk

Have a lovely weekend.

Class 1 – Information for Parents/ Carers

Well done to Class 1 for having a great second week of term. I am really pleased with how all the children have settled in and the developing relationships among the new members of our class.

As we enter into our third week, I would just like to clarify a few details for all parents and carers:

MondaysP.E with Miss Purves , our specialist teacher from Millburn. As we have our session from 10.00 – 11.00 am, children are welcome to come to school in their kit (change of t-shirt, shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms, socks and trainers) but need to have their uniform to change into afterwards. Alternatively, children will have time to change beforehand.

Tuesdays – Homework to be sent out. This will begin as of next week (3rd September) and should be returned the following Monday. All children will be given tasks suited to their age and developmental stage.

Thursdays – Mrs Reid will be teaching the children on alternate Thursdays.

Fridays- P.E 1.30-2.30 pm with Miss Costa. Kits may stay in school if preferred, but if taken home must be brought back in time for Monday’s morning session.

Reading books will also go home the week beginning 2nd September. Children will be assigned a specific day that their book will get changed, but should have their book in their school bag daily for tasks and activities.

I would also encourage all children to have a change of clothes which are separate to their kit, in case of any accidents. We would also like to remind all pupils to have appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear for rainy days and also for messier play, such as in our digging area or our mud kitchen.

If any other information is required do get in touch, either via the school office or by email: Sarah.Costa@highland.gov.uk.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Costa

Paired Reading- Whole school

Today Class 2 enjoyed playing the role of leader during our paired reading session with Class 1.  The class was buzzing with great conversations about the books the children had chosen.

Some of the older children in class 1 even chose to read a little to their reading partner.

To finish the session we shared a book on the computer called ‘Wonky Donkey’

Class 1 – Library Van and Mrs Reid

We had our first visit from Scott and the library van today! We’re all coming home with new books and enjoyed sharing some of these at the end of the day. Thank you to Ben and Ruaridh for reading some of our stories to us!

Scott visits our school every three weeks, so we will keep you updated on when to return books. Please feel free however to bring books back to school once you’ve finished with them.

Later on, we all took part in a range of activities with Mrs Reid. Mrs Reid will be teaching us every couple of weeks on a Thursday. One game we played was called ‘This is Me’, which showed us how we’re all unique and different but also how we can be similar and are all connected.

Thank you Mrs Reid, this was really fun to play 🙂
