***P7 Residential Trip***

Craggan Outdoors: Monday 12th – Friday 16th June

The trip is for 5 days, during which, the children will take part in a wide range of challenging and exciting outdoor activities. Pupils will leave school on the morning of Monday 12th June, spend 4 nights in accommodation at Ardenbeg and Glenbeg bunkhouses, and then return to school by approximately 2.30pm on Friday 16th June.

Whilst at the centre, the children will take part in 8 activities, including archery, gorge walking, high ropes, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, raft building, bushcraft and rock climbing. The children will also be involved in evening activities such as a Mini Highland Games, frisbee golf and nature art.

As well as an ideal transition opportunity to mix and work with other pupils across the year group, the trip offers a fantastic opportunity for children to enrich their learning in an outdoor setting. For more information about the centre, please have a look at the centre’s website:

I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Quigley and Mrs Snedden for inviting our girls to join Milton of Leys Primary School pupils on their residential trip.

***Inter-School Sports Tomorrow***

capture11I’m just adding a quick post to remind the parents of the Inter-School Sports team that the event takes place tomorrow (May 26th) at Bught Park. Sadly, I won’t be able to make it this year, so I would like to thank Gillian, Steve and Miss K for agreeing to stand in as the school’s representatives. The format is the same as in recent years – with the first event starting at 9.45am, and the afternoon events starting at 1.00pm. The estimated finish time is 4.30pm. Go Team Daviot!

***Inverness Shinty Festival***

IMG_8477Earlier this week, I was contacted by Katie Drain – Regional Development Officer for the Shinty Governing Body. She asked if our school would be interested in entering a team into the Inverness Shinty Festival. Please see the details below:

Date: Saturday 10th June, 2017

Who is it for: Inverness City Primary Schools

When Does it Start: 10.00am start (please arrive before 9.30am)

When Does it Finish: 12.30pm

Format: Round Robin Tournament – 6 aside – 3 subs max

Sections Appropriate to Daviot: P4/5 section

Venue: Outside Park, Bught Park, Inverness

Cost: Free

Extras: Each team will receive 2 free adult tickets to the MacTavish Cup Final

I need a minimum of 6 (P4/5) pupils to enter a team. If your child would be interested in taking part, please let Carol know as soon as possible. I would also need a parent helper to chaperone the team on the day.
