I’m delighted to say that Class 2 has been invited to the University of Highlands and Islands STEM Hub for a computer programming workshop. We will be going on Wednesday morning (October 26th). Lunchtime arrangements will not be affected. Please sign and return the permission slips I will be sending out on Monday as soon as you can. Thanks so much!
I’m thrilled to say that Daviot Primary will welcome some very special visitors into school tomorrow afternoon. The main speaker is Carol James, and she will be supported by Bobby Streetly who has a retired Guide Dog – Priory. They are both looking forward to visiting the school, and they delighted to hear of the fundraising that our pupils have already been doing for Guide Dogs. If any children have collected more sponsorship money, it would be great if we could get it in on Monday morning, so we can get a final total prior to our visitors arriving. Thanks for your support.
I am pleased to confirm that I have managed to book Louise for more gymnastics coaching. The sessions start next Tuesday (October 25th) – straight after school – from 3pm to 4pm. They are open to all children (P1-P7), and they will take place at Daviot Village Hall. The cost of the coaching sessions will be covered by the school fund. As the number of pupils attending is increasing, Louise would welcome the support from any parents who would like to help out.
This term, PE will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please remind children to bring in their PE kits on those days. If they would like to leave their kit at school all week, they are very welcome to do so.
I would like to continue the Daily Mile with Class 2 next term. I would also like to start it with Class 1 as well! I’d really appreciate if parents could ensure that children come to school with their trainers everyday (wellies and spare socks would be very helpful if it is wet).
I know it can be inconvenient for busy parents, but I’d really like to continue the healthy break time snacks this term too.
I am happy to discuss these initiatives at the next parent council meeting.
I’m also adding a reminder about hydration. If possible, please send pupils to school with water bottles. We will keep them at school all week and then send them home on a Friday afternoon.
Thanks for your support.
I am just adding a quick post to remind parents (and pupils) that all school news and information will be posted on the Daviot Primary blog. I will try to keep it as up-to-date as possible, so please try to check it regularly. You can request email notifications for new posts by following the blog. This option is located at the top right hand side of the page. Thanks for your support.
Class 1: Travel and Transport (Mrs MacPherson)
The pupils will hop on board the Team Daviot Rocket and blast off on an exciting adventure with our ‘Travel and Transport’ topic. The class will explore journeys of all kinds, including how people get around now and how they travelled in the past. From a walk around the school to the first trip to the moon!
Class 2: TechnoTastic! (Mr Mac)
The pupils will be exploring engineering through science, technology and maths (plus geography, history and art too!). We are looking forward to taking part in some truly incredible learning experiences this term. It will be TechnoTastic!
Class 2 Mini-Topic: Take a Look at Ancient Greece (Miss K)
The pupils will take a trip back to one of the most fascinating civilisations in history as the class learns about Ancient Greece and all it has to offer. They will discover the people, the inventions, the art, the technology, the mythology and so much more! Miss K will also be delivering a French topic too, C’est Moi! (This is me!) .
